Stone
Care
The
Marble Institute of America recommends the following for stone care:
Normal
maintenance involves periodic washing with clean, potable water and
neutral (ph7) cleaners. Soapless cleaners are preferred because they
minimize streaking and filming. However, mild phosphate-free,
biodegradable liquid soap, soap flakes or powders which contain no
aromatics are acceptable if rinsing is thorough. Stone surfaces should first
be wet with hot (not boiling) water. Then using the cleaner solution
(following manufactures directions), wash in small overlapping sweeps.
Rinse thoroughly with clean, potable water in the rinse pail frequently.
Dry with a soft cloth and allow to air dry.
Avoid washing with any cleaners that are acidic in nature or contain
chemicals that can etch and/or remove the polished finish.
For
everyday care we just rinse with water and wipe dry, what could be
easier?
